If you are interested in learning how to build a website with HTML & CSS the book "Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML" really is a comprehensive and enjoyable way of achieving your goal.

If you follow this through from start to finish and build your own website as an example, you will end up with a decent website and have learnt a lot in the process.

I really liked the way it took you through the steps and the various transitions of HTML and XHTML, so that at the end you can use which ever suits you best.

Its coverage of CSS is good also. I had bought another book thinking that I would need more info, but in reality this book was all that was needed.

If you are new to HTML, just follow it through in the chapter order and everything will fall into place.

WORDPRESS FLEX

I have been a convert to WP Flex, because it is a real timesaver and you have many options for customising your theme.

I really like the "reset to default" facility, because I can play around with colors, etc and just return to the default setting, when I have only suceeded in making it worse.

I have used WordPress Flex, because it is a very user friendly theme and there are many things you can change quickly without having to go into the code as on many free themes.

If you are not comfortable with the look of the site you can use your own headers and footers and graphics to customise it.

To view what the Theme can do login to the Admin area then go to:-
Appearance > Theme Options

Here you will see 12 headings so that you can make changes to the various areas of the website, plus a Read Me at the end.

The first section is the Global Settings, where you can have the choice of 6 different layouts, which include a plain page, plus various 1 and 2 column options.

You can adjust the website width and a variety of other things that relate to the overall layout of the website.

Most important is that you spend some time learning this, because there are many time saving features here.
